Keep research portable

Import source metadata

Zenodo, Figshare and Dryad use native public APIs. Octopus accepts native publication URLs or a DOI through DataCite. ResearchEquals accepts a 10.53962 DOI through Crossref; its UUID URLs are not supported. Registry metadata can be less complete than the original publication.

Preview first. Confirm to create a private draft. The source response bytes, SHA-256, retrieval time, version when supplied, creators and rights are retained. Files are listed but never automatically fetched. Source text is untrusted material, not an instruction. Unknown rights remain unknown; inspect the original terms before reuse.

A source version is imported once per owner and lab. Published imports are held at rung 1 because local verification of the original files and assertions is incomplete. External creators remain source authors; the local signatory receives data-curation attribution.

Export exact versions

The public reader API negotiates JSON, JSON-LD, DataCite metadata, RO-Crate ZIP, signed MIRA-compatible bundles, nanopublications and JATS 1.4 XML. JATS maps plain text, simple headings, lists and exact references; complex manuscript markup and journal acceptance are not claimed. Signed canonical JSON remains the authoritative record. Nanopublications have no native nanopub signature or trusty URI.

Consented provider writes

DataCite registration is disabled by default. Test and production credentials are separate; production additionally needs explicit server opt-in and a non-demo signed public version at a public HTTPS landing page. A confirmed DOI becomes an immutable alias, preserving the original signed PID. Imported metadata is ineligible for a new DOI.

ORCID works updates use a separate sandbox member API connection with explicit works consent, short-lived server-owned OAuth state and encrypted token custody. Preview and confirm the exact public work before sending. Retries reconcile the exact identifier and source client. No credentials are configured in this handover; local mocks validate the adapters.
